Properties Tropica Plant Growth Substrate:

The fertilizer as a nutrient substances is a long-acting depot in Tropica PlantGrowth substrate provide embedded and magnificent and healthy growth of your aquariumplants. It consists of clay and peat, which is introduced together with theaquarium gravel in the refurbishment of the aquarium in the substrate. The slowrelease of nutrients from clay and peat at the roots of aquatic plants, avoid thatthey are not over-fertilized. At the same time nutrients from the water arebound  in the soil surface. If nutrientsare bound from the water, it reduces the risk of unwanted algae growth.

If you set up your new aquarium, you distribute the substrate in a 1 cm thick layeron the bottom of the aquarium. In the table (see picture), the current standardsize aquariums are given. There you can read the recommended amounts for thesubstrate.
Then put on the substrate at least 3-4 cm of gravel. The gravel acts as abarrier between the substrate and concentrated fertilizer to the aquarium water.When planting the aquarium with aquarium plants, as usual, they will be plantedinto the gravel, where they quickly form new roots in the substrate. Make sure,that when you plant the substrate stir little as possible to prevent the mixingof clay and sphagnum with the water.

very good clay substrate. you have to pay attention when removing plants in order to not disturb the clay substrate (to prevent it mixing into water)

I just received my two 2,5 L bags after only 2 days postal transport to my home here in Sweden! Excellent and economic plant substrate! You only need 1 cm layer on bottom of tank and then cover it up with your normal sand 3-4 cm on top of that!
